What is Living Audio?

Living Audio began in a freezing shed in 2020 at the height of COVID. Alan Crookham had been serving as a missionary since 2001 in nations like Turkey, Costa Rica, Panama, Iraq, Thailand, Argentina, and dozens of other nations, but was landlocked during the pandemic.

Alan has trained hundreds of new missionaries over the decades, helped plant over a dozen churches, baptized over a thousand people, and preached in crusades, churches and conferences to tens of thousands of people. He has always had a passion for stories, and when he trains others for ministry, he has always been known for teaching through the history and the testimonies of those who had incredible stories to tell. These stories largely came from classic (and obscure!) books from church history.

Thus, when unable to travel and preach due to COVID, he set up a cheap microphone and laptop in the shed in his backyard right in the dead of Pennsylvania's winter and narrated his first audiobook, Of Patience by Tertullian. He fell in love with narration immediately, and has since been the voice of dozens of audiobooks, hundreds of voice over projects, audio dramas, commercials and beyond.

Believing in the power of stories, and the need for more Christian stories to be turned into audio format, Alan founded Living Audio. While Alan is still the primary narrator, we work with a small group of amazing voice talent, most of whom are pastors.

Today Living Audio is quickly becoming the go-to place for producing Christian Audiobooks. From the cheap microphone in a shed, we now have a recording studio on par with the top studios in existence, and are capable of producing just about anything requiring a voice.

We hope you will join us, and allow us to tell your story!
